Security beefed up in Chennai for verdict on Vishwaroopam
Justice K Venkataraman cleared the film's release across the state around 10 pm by suspending the prohibitory orders given by officials asking theatres not to screen it. The situation remained tense as shops around the court complex remained shut after the verdict was given.
Highly placed police sources, however, said that they did not get any specific alerts from the court. Yet, they did not take any chance and posted personnel at important public places to avoid untoward incidents.
Last week, Justice Venkataraman watched Vishwaroopam along with complainants, who alleged that the film projected a minority community in negative lights, at the Prasad studios in Saligramam and the judgment was deferred on Monday. Later, it was adjourned to 8 pm on Tuesday before it finally came out at 10 pm.
