EPL Transfers: Top Premier League clubs eyeing Benteke

London, Jan 28: Aston Villa's disastrous could get even worse as top Premier League clubs are eyeing a move for their star striker Christian Benteke.

The 22-year old Austria international has been linked with defending champions Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenaham.

After scoring 11 goals in his debut season in the Premier League, manager Paul Lambert may find it hard to hold on to their prized possession if Villa face relegation, but may lose him even if they survive in the league.

The Villans have not win their last six Premier League games, pushing them down to 17th place with 20 points, only one point safe from the danger zone.

Tottenham are in desperate need for a striker after Jermain Defoe suffered a pelvic injury and may need to undergo surgery leaving Andre Villas-Boas without a senior striker. Spurs are also interested in signing Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao.

City boss Roberto Mancini is in the hunt for a new striker as talks about Mario Balotelli's future at the club remains uncertain while Edin Dzeko has been linked with several clubs. Balotelli could be heading to AC Milan as City eye Benteke as his replacement.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admitted that he needs to sign a new striker despite having Theo Walcott and Oliver Giroud upfront.

Benteke, a £7.5million signing from Genk, has been Villa's main man upfront alongside talented youngster Andreas Weimann and ahead of club-record signing Darren Bent.

Villa are in danger of losing their striker who signed a four-year deal at Villa Park last summer. The Villans have previously sold some thier best players like James Milner, Gareth Barry, Stewart Downing and Ashley Young.
