Bihar gangrape story fabricated? Woman committed suicide?
Making the case more complicated, the postmortem report also revealed that the woman was not a victim of gangrape. Earlier Bihar police had informed that the woman was gangraped and later was hung from a tree.
The 32-year-old victim, who hails from Jalpaiguri in West Bengal, boarded Delhi-bound Brahmaputra Mail. According to sources, the woman was accompanied by her 10-year-old son and other relatives.
The woman had tried to get down from the train at Sahibganj in Jharkhand as the train was crowded. However, her co-passengers prevented her from getting down from the train.
Later when the train slowed down between Vikramshila and Kahalgaon stations, she jumped out, informed Assistant Superintendent of Police, Bhagalpur, Meenu Kumari.
Police sources earlier had informed that the woman was dragged to mango orchard and allegedly gang-raped by unidentified people. Liquor bottles were found from the spot of the suicide.
Police recovered a railway ticket and cellphone number of her village head written on a piece of paper from the victim's possession.
