Vibrant Gujarat Jan 2013
Gandhinagar, Jan 8: Chief Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the Gujarat Global Trade Show as part of the 6th edition of Vibrant Gujarat Summit (VGS).

"In Prayag on the banks of Ganga one Kumbha Mela is being organised and here near the banks of Sabarmati a 'Kumbh Mela of Development' has taken place," Modi said in his inaugural speech here today.

"This platform offers a unique opportunity to corporate houses, institutions and industrial giants not only to showcase their innovations, products and services to a large gathering on Indian and global summit delegates but also allows to have meaningful B-to-B interactions resulting in serious business and trade opportunities," he said.

Modi recalled that there was a time when trade fairs were restricted to Delhi but pointed that now slowly this is shifting to the states. "The initiatives of Gujarat are not restricted to our state only. Many states are doing similar things to attract investment. Our efforts have become a trend setter in this regard," he added.

Earlier, Chairperson and Managing Director of Indian Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) Rita Menon spoke on the occasion. She congratulated the Gujarat government for the show and expressed confidence that the summit will grow from strength to strength and wished the event a huge success.

The six-day global trade show, spread across an area of more than 1 lakh sq meters has participation of more than 1,000 companies from 16 countries and various governments. Having 13 domes, 14 exclusive pavilions, over 1,000 stalls and more than 25,000 products on display, officials are expecting more than 1.5 million people to visit the trade show.
