Ronaldo could return to Manchester United for £60million

Manchester, Jan 3: Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo could make a surprise return to Manchester United for about £60million after refusing to sign a new contract with Real Madrid, according to the Sun.

Ronaldo, 27, has revealed he is unhappy at the Santiago Bernabeu and has also relished a return to Old Trafford.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has also mentioned that he would love to have Ronaldo back. The deal could see the departure of goalkeeper David De Gea and winger Nani who could be moving to Madrid.

Ronaldo has two years left on his contract but expects higher salary from Los Blancos. The Portuguese star is looking to earn nearly £400-000-a-week while United could only offer him around £300,000-a-week.

French giants Paris Saint-Germain are also planning a double swoop for Real Madrid duo Ronaldo along with manager Jose Mourinho. The club backed by Qatari billionaires are willing to offer Ronaldo a mega £500,000-a-week in wages which means he would be the highest-paid player in the world.

Meanwhile, Ferguson feels stopper De Gea has not settled well in the Premier League. The young Spanish keeper has failed to remain consistent and perform at United's level.

The Red Devils were eyeing Stoke City No. 1 Asmir Begovic as a permanent replacement for De Gea and Anders Lindegaard.

Nani, on the other hand, has been linked with Juventus, Arsenal and Real Madrid since the transfer window during the summer. United also rejected a bid from Russian cash-rich club Zenit st. Petersburg while other clubs backed out due to the players high wage demands.
