Ram Singh, Pawan Gupta and Vinay, six of the accused who have been sent for 14-day judicial custody, confessed to their crime in front of the Metropolitan Magistrate and refused to go for test identification parade (TIP).
Three of the suspected culprits were quoted as saying, "I do not want to take part in the test identification parade as I am involved in the crime and remorseful of that."
The magistrate Pawan Kumar warned the trio that their refusal to go for identification parade would go against them during trials which would be held later.
Mukesh Singh, Ram Singh's brother and another accused in the case, has already been identified by the victim's friend who was the sole eye-witness of the brutal incident and had faced the wrath of the six persons on the fateful night of Dec 16.
The fourth accused Akshay Thakur was arrested from his village in Bihar on Friday, Dec 21 agreed to go for the identification parade on Wednesday, Dec 26. The sixth accused, who claimed to be juvenile and has been lodged in children's remand home, will undergo the TIP on Monday, Dec 24.
Charges of kidnapping, gangrape, unnatural offences, hurting in committing robbery and common intention under the Indian Penal Code have been hurled against them.
The 23-year-old victim of the gangrape has been battling for her life in the ICU of Safdarjung Hospital. Recently, she recorded her statement where she claimed that all six men had sexually assaulted her.
This is very significant as till now the Delhi Police were averring that only four of the accused had raped her. It is noteworthy that the victim's male friend had earlier narrated a similar version of events.
The gangrape enraged the countrymen the national capital was shaken for two-three consecutive days when thousand of protesters gathered at Jantar Mantar, Rashtrapati Bhavan, Vijay Chawk, Ramlila Maidan, India Gate and demanded justice for the victim.
