Delhi gang rape victim has fever but is stable: Doctors

New Delhi, Dec 23: Doctors at the Safdarjung hospital said today evening that the 23-year-old victim of the Delhi gang rape has fever but is conscious. Her temperature is 105 degrees Fahrenheit at present.

According to the doctors, her platelet count plummeted today. Hence they provided platelets and blood plasma in bottles to the patient. She is now stable after undergoing a minor surgery in the afternoon, as per the latest medical update at 8 p.m.

The victim is still on the ventilator and will continue to be so until next morning when a fresh assessment is due. Doctors refuted reports that the victim was made to walk yesterday.

On Dec 16, she and her male friend were attacked by six men in a bus here. The accused raped the victim and then threw her out of the moving bus. Since then, she has been battling for life at the Safdarjung hospital.

Her brutal gang rape has galvanised the youth who have been staging protests in central Delhi over the past few days.

Delhi Gang Rape Protests

Though all the accused in the case have been arrested and remanded in custody, the protesters are demanding stringent punishment for the rapists and enactment of laws that will hopefully deter such culprits in the future.
