Union Minister Manish Tewari said earlier that Congress had won in all those seats where Rahul Gandhi had campaigned before the elections this time.

BJP's Amit Shah, who won from Naranpura by 60,000 seats, said positive votes garnered because of the good work of the state government helped the party to win the election.

Karnataka CM Jagadish Shettar said Modi is ready to be the Prime Minister. He is the first BJP CM to openly support Modi.

Himachal CM Prem Kumar Dhumal wins in Hamirpur. Gujarat Health Minister Jaynarayan Vyas loses from Siddhapur. Vyas defeated Congress's Balavantsinh Rajput by 17,000 votes. Coincidentally, Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi had campaigned here.

Union Law Minister Ashwani Kumar said he was confident that Rahul Gandhi would continue to lead the Congress irrespective of the results in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. Kumar said Gandhi would lead from the front.

The central minister also said that the Congress had made some gains in Gujarat despite the fact it was losing and exposed some of Narendra Modi's development claims.

Gujarat Congress leader A Agneek said time would tell how much seats the Congress would get. "There was no need to speculate anything before," she said.
