Fire at Chandni Chowk market area doused
New Delhi, Dec 13: Many fire fighters worked hours with 22 fire tenders and doused the fire which broke out in Chandni Chowk area on Thursday evening. Fire broke out at around 5.10 pm.

Massive fire breaks out in Delhi Chandni Chowk area

A massive fire broke out at a electronic equipment godown at Bhagirathi Palace in Chandni Chowk here on Thursday. Twenty-two fire tenders were pressed into action.

The entire area had been cordoned off and people were asked to vacate the nearby market areas. The fire tenders were facing problem in dousing the fire for the area is a congested market district. Officials were yet to confirm the reason for the outbreak of the fire.

It was suspected that the fire could have originated in the second or third floor of the godown. Sources said the blaze did not spread beyond one building but the condition of the building was said to be in a dilapidated state.

No instances of injuries were reported. Fire brigade officials also said that no person was left stranded inside the building.
