London, Dec 12: Premier League giants want to bolster their squad after a mix opening half of the season. As usual top targets in the transfer window are forward, strikers or attacking midfielders. Here is a look at the top 5 Premier League targets which could take place during the January transfer market.
Theo Walcott - Arsenal
Walcott could leave Arsenal after rejecting a contract extension to stay at the club. The winger, 23, is holding on to his demands for wages nearing £1,00,000-a-week but the Gunners are only willing to pay £75k weekly. However, Chelsea, Liverpool and now Manchester United are monitoring the situation with the England International.
Wilfried Zaha - Crystal Palace
Zaha, 20, has become Premier League's hottest target after earning his first cap for England. The Crystal Palace winger is being targetted by Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United. Palace boss Ian Holloway has slapped £15m price tag on Zaha while the clubs are willing to pay nearly £10m-12m.
Daniel Sturridge - Chelsea
Sturridge is a possible target for striker-less Liverpool in January. Brendan Rodgers is willing to shell out nearly £12 million for the forward who is second-choice at Chelsea. The 23-year-old England international has lost his place in the squad with Fernando Torres leading the line. Liverpool have been in contact with Sturridge's advisors and a deal would take place next month.
Nani - Manchester United
The 26-year-old Portuguese is out of sorts at Old Trafford after a brawl with manager Sir Alex Ferguson and a deadlock in contract extension talks, with top clubs across Europe ready to bid for him. Nani has not played since he was substituted during the Champions League clash at Braga early last month. Arsenal are ready to bid for the United outcast in January.
Demba Ba - Newcastle United
Liverpool and Arsenal have been on high alert after Newcastle United disclosed they would sell striker Demba Ba in January. Senegal international, Ba, 27, rejected an improved offer of £70,000-a-week from the Magpies as he stands firm on his demand of £90k-a-week. Ba has £7.5m release clause in his contract.
