MPs behave like animals in Parliament? Cong's Mani thinks so
In a television debate on Parliament deadlock over foreign direct investment (FDI) in retail, Aiyar said, "There is a decent and respectable way to express one's point of view. This behaviour of the MPs reminds me of animals screaming in a well."
The comment has come just few hours after both ruling Congress-led UPA government and BJP-led Opposition on Thursday, Nov 29 decided to end the four-day-long parliamentary logjam over FDI in multi-brand retail. Hope another deadlock in Parliament does not start over the issue of Aiyar's latest comment.
Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar announced her decision to admit the Opposition's motion for an FDI debate under Rule 184 that entails voting. "I thank you for allowing the motion and I assure you that now the House will run smoothly," the leader of opposition Sushma Swaraj promised.
Rajya Sabha chairman Hamid Ansari arrived at a similar decision at a meeting with leaders of all parties. The Lok Sabha has set Dec 4 and 5 as the date to vote and debate FDI. The dates for the Rajya Sabha are yet to be decided.
