New Delhi, Nov 28: Congress has adopted a new slogan Aap ka paisa, aap ke haath (direct cash transfer) on Tuesday, Nov 27. Political analysts say the new slogan has been adopted by Congress to form UPA-III government after the forthcoming General Elections. But many feel that it might be the effect of Arvind Kejriwal. Is it because Kejriwal has named his party as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) recently?

Since 2004 General Elections, Congress has been fighting elections in the name of aam aadmi. They have successfully used the slogan "Congress Ka Haath, Aam Aadmi Ke Saath" (Congress's hand, which is also the party's election symbol, is with the common man).

"With the new slogan, Congress is hoping to woo back the aam admi, the poor, the marginalised and the weaker sections as the government has launched an ambitious direct cash transfer scheme," said a source in Congress.

Party insiders are also saying that the Congress is looking at an early election possibly after a populist budget.

After activist-turned-politician Kejriwal decided to name his political party AAP, a war has erupted between Congress and Team Kejriwal to own aam aadmi. Congress claims that Kejriwal has hijacked the word aam aadmi from Congress. Meanwhile, Kejriwal formally launched his party on Monday, Nov 26.

Aam aadmi is the common man of India. Union Information and Broadcasting minister, Manish Tewari and party's general secretary, Digvijay Singh, in particular, are upset at Arvind and his team for appropriating the common man's name in their party. Speaking to reporters on Sunday in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, Singh said Kejriwal's move reflected his intellectual bankruptcy. "It reflects the intellectual bankruptcy of Arvind Kejriwal that he has adopted the theme of the Congress Party," he said.

Addressing his supporters near Rajghat in New Delhi on Sunday, the activist-turned-politician also used the platform to attack Congress and BJP saying they "used" people only to get votes and never bothered about them. "There are people who have looted India a lot. Now the youth have decided to come out and drive them out of Parliament. I ask all youth therefore to come to Jantar Mantar tomorrow and they will be given the status of founder member of the party," Kejriwal said.
