The incident took place in a pub in the Italian capital ahead of Thursday's Europa League clash between Spurs and Lazio.
According to reports in Italian newspapers, nearly 50 hooligans were involved in the violent act carrying knives, baseball bats and other small weapons to attack Spurs fans who were enjoying a drink at the Drunken Ship Pub.
Italian newspaper La Repubblica reported scenes of 'urban warfare' as one witness was quoted as saying "We feared the worst."
The attack took place in the early hours of Thursday morning around 1am with 100 'Ultras'- hooligans- wrecked the pub and attacked Spurs fans leaving 10 wounded and two stabbed, with one of them in a critical state.
Police confirmed nearly 50 Italians have aged between 20 and 55 have been detained in relation to the attack.
The incident comes after UEFA had fined Lazio £32,500 for racially abusing some of Spurs black players during the reverse fixture at White Hart Lane.
Back in 2006, at the same venue, Middlesbrough supporters where stabbed and attacked when their team played in Rome.
