Rape accused athlete Pinki Pramanik to sue police
26-year-old former athlete on Wednesday, Nov 14 said, "I will file a case against the police and government lawyer for defaming me and trying to outrage my modesty."
Speaking about her medical reports, Pinki questioned, "Whatever there is in the medical report, that should be with the court, and the police or anyone else is not allowed to open it. Then how come the police filed a charge-sheet based on that report?"
Taking a dig at the cops, Pinki also asserted, "The allegations made by the accuser have been taken at face value and she was never put under the scanner. The police have been very biased in this case from the very beginning. But I have faith in judiciary and will fight my case in the court of law."
Reacting against the charge-sheet, Pinki earlier had said, "Police have plotted a huge conspiracy against me. They are trying to force me into committing suicide."
The controversy over Pinki Pramanik case was ignited when her medical reports confirmed that she is a male and police filed rape charge-sheet against her.
However, differing with police version, medical experts on Wednesday stated that Pinki can not rape as the athlete has been suffering from Disorder of Sexual Development (DSD).
The medical experts also said that despite an XY chromosome combination, a DSD patient cannot be termed as male and the patient is incapable of performing a sexual act. Pinki was arrested on Jun 24 following allegations of rape levelled against her by her live-in partner.
The middle distance runner, who won one silver medal and five gold medals between 2005 and 2006, retired in 2007. According to reports, due to her 'excessive male hormones', Pinki was not allowed in a Madurai national meet.
