Vijay Mallya betrays Kingfisher employees on Diwali?
According to sources, the airline employees did not receive their salaries till Monday, Nov 12. The airline CEO Sanjay Aggarwal earlier had promised to pay their three month salaries by Diwali which has been celebrated nationwide on Tuesday, Nov 13.
Ironically, the airline chief Vijay Mallya on Tuesday tweeted, "Happy Deepavali. May Goddess Lakshmi shower you with wealth, good health and happiness."
Mr Mallya's tweet surfaces at a time when his employees continue their struggle to get their bread and butter. The airline staffers had withdrawn their strike after being assured by the airline management that their due payments would be paid.
The airline has been grounded since Oct 1, 2012 after engineers along with other employees refused to certify aircraft being fit to fly till they were paid seven months back wages.
Earlier, Vijay Mallya had met Civil Aviation Secretary KN Shrivastava to brief him about the revival plan of the airline.
After his meeting with Mr Srivastav, Mr Mallya said, "I have briefed the secretary on revival, restart plan. It would be a comprehensive plan. All hurdles will be crossed."
