Manchester, Nov 5: English champions Manchester City are on the brink of crashing out of the UEFA Champions League if in case they lose to Ajax on Tuesday. The result at the Etihad Stadium could determine manager Roberto Mancini's future after grabbing only one point in three games in Europe's biggest club competition.

City's millionaires fell to a 3-1 loss against Dutch giants Ajax at the Amsterdam Arena, exposing defensive errors and lack of attacking flair. With two defeats, another 3-2 loss at Real Madrid and a 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund, left the English champions bottom of group D.

Surprisingly, Dortmund topped the table after beating Real Madrid 2-1 at home. However, City need a 'miracle' according to their Italian boss, rightly said as they need other results to go in their favour.

Mancini blamed himself for the loss in Amsterdam after opting for three defenders while his attacking line-up of Mario Balotelli, Edin Dzeko and Carlos Tevez back-fired as the trio failed to convert against West Ham. City survived at Upton Park but have certainly lost the touch of champions.

The Citizens are the only side to remain unbeaten in 10 league games this season, but they also failed to score after 17 league games.

Apart from the game on Tuesday, City undergo difficult tests, first against Real at home, an away game to Chelsea in the Premier League and finally a visit to Dortmund in December.

City's chances of qualifying through to the last-16 are very slim even though they win against Ajax. Real and Dortmund are currently favourites to go through but City will drive on their luck till the end.
