Shimla, Nov 4: Congress, BJP must be tensed as Himachal Pradesh assembly election was underway on Sunday, Nov 4. Till 11 am on Sunday morning, total twenty seven per cent voting has been recorded.

Security has been beefed up around the state where many were seen reaching their respective polling stations even before voting started at 8 am on Sunday.

According to poll officials, heavy polling could be seen as the weather was clear and sunny.

Himachal witnessed a heavy polling on Sunday, Nov 4. Young people to senior citizens - all are believed to have fulfilled their duties in Himachal.

The state proved that age is not a bar to reach poll booth to cast votes. The old lady was among those who cast their votes in early morning.

Sunday, Nov 4 must be a crucial day for Congress and BJP. Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal will try to better the BJP's performance.

In 2007, the party's candidates emerged triumphant in 41 constituencies. Congress could only win 19 in the last polls.

Total 459 candidates including 27 women were in the fray. The Election Commission has set up 7,253 polling stations for 46,08,359 electors, including 23,76,587 men.

Himachal Pradesh has a total of 68 assembly constituencies. Of these, 17 are reserved for SCs and three for STs.

All the votes polled in Himachal Pradesh will be counted on Dec 20. A new assembly has to be constituted by Jan 10, 2013.
