Congress politicising Modi's "50cr girlfriend" remark
In an interview to CNN-IBN, Tharoor's wife Sunanda said that she was very much disappointed and did not expect Chief Minister of a state to speak like this.
On being asked whether Sunanda wants an apology from Modi, she said, "No, I don't think. As I said earlier that I don't think he would apologise. If he was the type to apologise he would apologise to his own people for the innocent killing of so many Gujaratis on his watch. So, I don't even expect an apology, I don't think he is the type to apologise."
While replying to Modi's statement, Tharoor on Tuesday, Oct 30 tweeted from his Twitter account, "@narendramodi My wife is worth a lot more than your imaginary 50 crores. She is priceless. But you need2be able2love some1 2understand that."
Gujarat Congress president Arjun Modhvadia on Tuesday alleged that Chief Minister Narendra Modi had insulted all women in the country with his comment on Union Minister Shashi Tharoor's wife. Modi, of late, was using language that did not suit political leader and had lost "decency", Modhvadia added.
Earlier on Monday, the Gujarat CM criticised Tharoor while targeting his wife Sunanda Pushkar over her alleged involvement in Kochi IPL team following which Tharoor had resigned from the External Affairs Ministry in 2010.
Modi, while addressing a rally at Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, said, "Wah kya girlfriend hai. Apne kabhi dekha hai 50 crore ka girlfriend (What a girlfriend. Have you ever seen a 50-crore-girl friend)?"
