Mocking at Tharoor, BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, "For an international Love Guru like him, a ministry of Love Affairs should be created."
Naqvi's comment surfaced just a day after Tharoor's reply to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Twitter saying, "@narendramodi My wife is worth a lot more than your imaginary 50 crores. She is priceless. But you need2be able2love some1 2understand that."
Modi earlier had irked the minister with his sexist remark on Sunanda Pushkar saying, "Wah kya girlfriend hai. Apne kabhi dekha hai 50 crore ka girlfriend (What a girlfriend. Have you ever seen a 50-crore-girl friend)?"
Tharoor's reply to Modi stormed the nation when followers of Modi and BJP also started commenting and criticising the minister. A tweeple with @vikas_1967 handler tweeted, "Modi has not made wrong statement. u spoke in parliament that u hv nothing to do with person hving 50cr.yet u married her."
While responding to the tweeple, Tharoor once again showed his affection for his wife saying, "Show me where I claimed I had nothing to do with her. Never said that. Proudly acknowledged her publicly and privately and in Parliament."
The whole controversy surfaced when Tharoor was inducted as MoS during UPA cabinet reshuffle on Sunday, Oct 28. The Gujarat CM criticised Tharoor while targeting Sundada Pushkar over her alleged involvement in irregularities in Kochi IPL team following which Tharoor was forced to resign from the external affairs ministry in 2010.
