The German driver who races for the Red Bull team started from the pole position and came up with a superb performance to reach the chequered flag first just like he did in 2011.
"It has been incredible. To come here both years, get the pole and win the race is fantastic. It is a very special Grand Prix and I really like this circuit," he said. Incidentally, this is Vettel's fourth consecutive victory.
Alonso pushed his Ferrari car to the limit and moved past another Red Bull driver Mark Webber in the 48th lap of the race. Teammates Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button ended up fourth and fifth to give McLaren a total of 22 points.
Felipe Massa was sixth in his Ferrari while Kimi Raikkonen of the Lotus team and Force India's Nico Hulkenberg finished seventh and eighth respectively. Romain Grosjean (Lotus) and Bruno Senna (Williams) also bagged points today.
Thanks to Hulkenberg, Force India got 4 points this time. Last year, they could manage just two points.
Vettel now has 240 points to Alonso's 227. There are just three races to go before the championship is decided but the reigning champion is the clear favourite at the moment.
