Kidnapped Indian baby Saanvi Venna found dead in US, 1 held
Police arrested one family friend of the Vennas. A Philadelphia police official was quoted as saying, "We have arrested a family friend, identified as Raghunanean Yaneadamuri, who was demanding ransom of USD 50,000."
The official also added, "We have filed charges of murder, kidnapping, robbery, burglary and theft against Yaneadamuri. What we have learned during the course of investigation is that this individual planned to kidnap Saanvi and was going to hold her for ransom."
Satyavathi Venna, 61, was babysitting her granddaughter Saanvi on the morning of Oct 22 when the suspect allegedly took away the infant after murdering the former. Satyavathi had come on a six-month visiting visa and was slated to return to India in Jan 2013.
Saanvi was the daughter of Venkata Konda Siva Venna and Chenchu Latha Punuru. The couple moved from Andhra Pradesh to the US in Feb 2007. Before shifting to King of Prussia (Pennsylvania) in Jun 2012, they resided at San Antonio (Texas), Troy (Michigan) and Cleveland (Ohio).
