Guj Poll: Support from Bihar's BJP mates to strengthen Modi

New Delhi, Oct 24: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is a happy man as support for him is pouring in from across the nation. As Modi is all set for Gujarat Assembly Elections 2012 in December, his campaign is going to get boost from his BJP mates in Bihar.

A group of senior BJP leaders from Bihar is slated to arrive in Ahmedabad to campaign for Modi in poll bound Gujarat.

The group includes two cabinet level ministers, Ashwin Chaubey and Giriraj Singh, both staunch Modi supporters, Rameshwar Chourasia, four-time MLA from Nokha, and MP of Nawada, Bhola Singh. What is more, around 200 workers will also accompany the senior leaders and they will work in areas with a significant Bihari population. There are a significant number of Bihari migrants in state and the ruling party will try to garner their support.

Early this month, the central leadership of BJP had announced the list of star campaigners for Gujarat polls. Absence of Bihar BJP leaders from the list caused uproar with Bihar BJP chief CP Thakur expressing disappointment over the exclusion. It was alleged that since Modi didn't have a cordial relation with Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, he had ensured that no leader from state came for campaigning in Gujarat.

"There was unnecessary hue and cry over Bihar ministers being left out of the first list. People must remember that list had been prepared by the party's central leadership and Modi had no role in the matter," said Chourasia, who is scheduled to arrive in Ahmedabad on October 26.

"I, along with 25 other workers will come to Gujarat and do what the party requires. The workers will go back to Bihar for Chhatha puja and return for campaigning after that," he said.
