Power crisis: HC asks TN govt officials to use sunlight more
Justice R Sudhakar, hearing a Petition seeking a direction to the Electricity Board not to cut power during nights and not to resort to unscheduled load shedding, said the screens and blinds provided in various offices should be opened temporarily to allow sunlight.
The use of air-conditioners should also be reviewed wherever there was more than one machine. Authorities should also consider curbing indiscriminate use of power during festivals, marriages, public functions, political meetings till the power crisis was over, the judge observed.
The government officials should voluntarily take steps to reduce the consumption of power in their offices. He said the private and multi-national companies should also utilise the power in a regulated manner.
The judge said the state should pursue its endeavour to improve infrastructure and enhance generation of power earnestly. The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Company was also directed to approach Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission to ensure equitable distribution of power.
