During an interview to a news channel, Mr Jethmalani, a BJP leader, on Wednesday, Oct 17 informed that he has written a letter to BJP president Nitin Gadkari demanding to make Modi as party's PM candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
According to Mr Jethmalani, Gujarat CM is the best choice for the post and BJP should discuss Modi's candidature for the General elections which are scheduled to be held in 2014.
Mr Jethmalani's letter, dated Sep 27, 2012, was sent to the party president when BJP leaders and ministers gathered at Surajkund to attend national executive meet.
The lawyer's letter ignited controversies among NDA leaders as JD(U) leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been opposing Modi's name for the PM candidature. Earlier he had threatened to break ties with BJP if the party promotes Modi for the post. However, recently, JD(U) confirmed that they will contest 2014 election along with BJP.
