EPL: Liverpool striker crisis deepens, Borini fractures foot

Liverpool, Oct 12: Liverpool's miserable start to the season is going to face another set back as striker Fabio Borini broke his right foot during training with Italy under 21s.

Borini, who joined Liverpool from Roma for £10 million, was training for Italy's Euro 2013 play-off against Sweden when he suffered the injury to his right foot.

It is still unknown for how long the Italian will be out but it could be for months rather than weeks.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is left with only 1 senior striker Luis Suarez who is currently on international duty with Uruguay. Suarez will face Argentina and Bolivia in a double header in the World Cup qualifiers and Rodgers will hope his hitman will return without any injury problems.

Rodgers was left without any striking options after he loaned out Andy Carroll to West Ham United and failed to acquire Clint Dempsey's signature who joined Tottenham.

The Reds secured only 6 points in seven games this season and are yet to win at home in four Premier League games, with 2 losses and 2 draws. Their only win came against Norwich City at Carrow Road when Suarez scored a hat-trick to help Liverpool win 2-5.
