Rahul faces opposition in Amritsar; posters removed

Rahul Gandhi
Chandigarh, Oct 10: It is beyond imagination that poster boy of Congress party Rahul Gandhi would ever face such an ignominy.

Amritsar municipal corporation had removed Congress general secretary Rahul's posters from the city. These posters were put up by Congress' students wing, the National Students Union of India (NSUI), for Gandhi's visit to Punjab. The visit was organised by NSUI.

Rahul was on a day-long visit to Amritsar on Wednesday, Oct 10.

Amritsar municipal authorities said that they removed the posters because NSUI didn't take any permission. The Congress is in Opposition in Punjab, which is ruled by a Akali Dal-BJP alliance.

Moreover,  All India Sikhs Students Federation (AISSF) had opposed Rahul's Punjab visit.

President AISSF Karnail Singh Peermohammad told media persons on Wednesday that Rahul's grandmother, late Prime Minister India Indira Gandhi was responsible for military action on Golden Temple in June 1984 which resulted in demolition of Sikh's supreme temporal seat Akal Takhat Sahib, death of thousands of Sikh pilgrims and subsequent wave of violence against Sikhs.

He alleged that after the assassination of Indira Gandhi, it was Rahul's father Rajiv Gandhi who openly called upon Congress workers and leaders to revenge his mother's death which resulted in killing of Sikhs.
