Sachin Tendulkar is all set to create history in sports world of the country but this time not as a cricketer but as a Member of Parliament (MP). The cricketer has come up with a proposal carrying four-point agenda which may open a new chapter for sports in India.
Tendulkar, who has become a member of Rajya Sabha four months back, submitted a proposal to the Human Resources Development (HRD) Minister Kapil Sibal emphasising to create special niche for sports in the educational system of the country.
The master-blaster has dreamt of promoting sports amongst the generation next and to fulfil his dream he has taken all initiatives after sending the letter to Sibal.
According to sources, Sibal has invited Tendulkar, cricketer-turned-MP, to give a detailed presentation.
Sibal was quoted saying, "We welcome Sachin Tendulkar's proposal and I have already written to him inviting him for a presentation so that the details can be talked through. Once that is done, we will ask both CBSE and NCERT to look into how sports can be made an integral part of the school curriculum."
Tendulkar reportedly has mentioned four points in his proposal to help promote different sports in India.
The four-point agenda in Tendulkar's proposal has been mentioned here:
- Tap into grassroots and nurture young talent.
- Promote sports at university and college levels.
- Revamp sporting infrastructure.
- Make physical activity part of school curriculum.
Tendulkar is believed to have been inspired by the latest performances of the Indian athletes in London Olympics 2012 where India has own six medal including two silver and four broze medals by Grappler Sushil Kumar, shooter Vijay Kumar, boxer Mary Kom, ace shutter Saina Nehwal, shooter Gagan Narang and wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, respectively.
