BS-Yeddyurappa
Bangalore, Oct 3: The disappointed former Karnataka chief minister, BS Yeddyurappa, declined to meet top BJP leaders like Arun Jaitley and Dharmendra Pradhan and instead sent his emissaries, ministers Shobha Karandlaje and Basavraj Bommai and MLC Lehar Singh to interact with them on Tuesday.

According to a Times of India report, although Yeddyurappa said there was no need for him to meet the central leaders, one of his emissary said the Lingayat strongman could not meet Jaitely and Pradhan for he had to attend a programme at Shikaripur, his home town. According to BSY's respresentive, if the BJP top brass wanted to meet him, the former CM would go to New Delhi to see them.

While Lehar Singh met the two central leaders in the morning and spoke for over two hours, Shobha Karandlaje held a separate meeting with the duo in the afternoon at the hotel where they were staying.

The meetings were important in the wake of BSY's threat to quit the BJP if his demand for giving him the state party chief's post was not met. He also embarrassed the party by openly attacking the leaders and showering praise on Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.

Current state BJP president and Deputy Chief Minister KS Eshwarappa along with the other Deputy CM, R Ashoka, met Jaitley and Pradhan on Monday night while Karnataka CM Jagadish Shettar met them on Tuesday. According to party sources, Eshwarappa and other party members appealed to the central leaders to resolve the Yeddyurappa issue as quickly as possible.

While Jaitley refused to talk to reporters at the party office, one of the part y sources said BSY might be asked to come to the national capital to meet the BJP top brass.
