Chennai, Sept 28: In Dec 2005, almost seven years back, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa had made a promise to the Chennai's Music Academy to launch its annual music festival. Jayalalithaa could not fulfill her promise as she had to personally monitor relief measures in the wake of unprecedented floods in Chennai at that time.

Jayalalithaa was serving her term as a Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in 2005 also.

Now again when she has become Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa is all set to fulfill her promise. Jayalalithaa will launch the Music Academy's annual music festival, which is the institution's 86th edition of the conference and concerts on Dec 15, said sources.

According to a press note from the Music Academy, the Chief Minister spontaneously accepted the request made by the Academy president, N Murali, when he called her on Thursday, Sept 27.

"Thus Jayalalithaa would be fulfilling a promise made to the organisers during her previous term as Chief Minister in Dec 2005 when she had to pull out of her commitment to launch the prestigious music event as she had to personally monitor relief measures in the wake of unprecedented floods in Chennai at that times," said an official of Music Academy.

Jayalalithaa had then promised to inaugurate a future edition of the music festival.
