Aarushi murder: CBI's key witness killed; Nupur relieved?
Jagadish Malik, the first police officer who had visited Talwars' residence in Noida after receiving the news of Aarushi's death on May 15, 2008, was mowed down by a truck.
Malik was the principal witness in the Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case as he could have revealed crucial information regarding the double murder case and the circumstances in which Hemraj's body was found a day after.
Malik died on Saturday, Sept 22 but news over his death was revealed in the Ghaziabad CBI court on Tuesday, Sept 25 when CBI was expected to examine few more witnesses including Malik.
Nupur Talwar, the main accused in the murder case, is expected to be released from Dasna jail in Ghaziabad on Sept 25. The Supreme Court earlier on Sept 17 had granted bail to the accused but citing CBI's plea not to allow her to be freed immediately, the apex court announced a postdated bail for Nupur.
"Nupur Talwar is likely to tamper with the evidence and abscond in case she is released on bail," said CBI in its 30-page affidavit filed in the apex court on Aug 9. However, the court instructed CBI to complete their examination of witnesses within Sept 25 and to release Nupur on the same day as per the deadline.
Now after Malik's death, the needle of suspicions may raise against the Talwars once again. The doctor couple was accused for the first time by a police team in which Malik had played an important role.
