Liverpool, Sep 23: Biggest rivals in the Premier League, Liverpool take on Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday. The Reds hope to end their winless run after securing a comfortable 5-3 victory over Young Boys in the Europa League.

Rodgers will call back most of his senior players Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez, Pepe Reina, Martin SKrtel, Daniel Agger Glen Johnson and Joe Allen after resting them for the midweek clash in Switzerland.

Midfielder Jonjo Shelvey could play along side Allen after a match winning performance in the Europa League, scoring twice to hand Liverpool a crucial away victory.

United have achieved more success at Anfield than any other club in the Premier League but the Alex Ferguson's Red Devils have failed to win in their last four visits to Anfield, drawing one and losing three.

Wayne Rooney and winger Ashley Young are out of this clash with injuries. Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick are likely to start in midfield with Shinji Kagawa and Robin van Persie upfront.

Darren Flethcer, who made a substitute appearance against Galatasaray in the Champions League, is likely to be benched while left-back Alex Buttner may retain his place in the starting XI.


*Liverpool are yet to win a game this season and have failed to keep a clean sheet in four games.
