Protest with black flag
Jammu, Sep 16: Jammu on Sep 15 witnessed a number of protests by various political outfits, who took to the streets, to oppose the hike in price of diesel and cap on subsidised cooking gas cylinder by the UPA government.

During the protest, effigies of UPA government were set ablaze at different locations. Opposition PDP today took out a protest rally and warned to intensify its stir if the UPA government did not roll back the hike in diesel price and withdraw the limit of LPG cylinder.

After setting on fire the effigy of UPA, PDP activists said raising price of petro-products has become a "routine" affair in its tenure. Over 250 activists of Bharatiya Chetaniya Party (BCP) held a protest rally to express their concern over the issue.

The BCP workers slammed the UPA government for the hike in diesel price and set on fire its effigy during their protest. Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) also staged a protest over the issue.

JKNPP activists claimed the move is likely to further increase the price of essential commodities and compound to the miseries of the common man.

"We strongly condemn the hike in the price of diesel and new policy on LPG. We demand its immediate roll back", JKNPP Chairman Bhaim Singh told reporters.
