Rohan Bopanna inaugurates Prahlad Srinath's tennis academy

Bangalore, Sept 14: Indian tennis star Rohan Bopanna inaugurated former India Davis Cup player Prahlad Srinath's SAT Sports Academy here on Thursday evening.

The state-of-the-art tennis academy is the brainchild of Srinath. It has five synthetic hard tennis courts and a 9,000 square feet training area.

The academy has 29 players now who are in the age group of four and 23.

Bopanna interacted with the children and showed his support to his good friend Srinath.

The ideas and methods of imparting technical knowledge to the children followed by a result oriented method of teaching are the main aim, the academy stated.

Emphasis is being laid on a systematic approach by offering the children basic skills that can be fine tuned step by step converting them into top level professionals.

Speaking at the launch of the academy, Srinath said, "Whole purpose of opening the academy is to create players of international standards which were not possible earlier with the kind of infrastructure available here. We want to create a situation where every child gets an opportunity with best facilities."

Srinath's goal is to take "his approach to tennis" to every corner of the country and spread his knowledge of the game. The inclusion of a foreign coach within a next few months is another big step in the right direction.

This academy has an approach with well set goals in mind for the overall development of player.

Sat Sports said their coaches have been associated with professional tennis coaching for over a decade. The coaches working with Sat Sports for training budding tennis talent in the country are selected for their strong sense of professionalism and further demonstrated by their having exacting industry credentials, for example Our director of coaching is ITF certified and former Davis Cupper, and some of our other coaches have USPTR coaching credential recognised by USTA and many countries across the world besides having done Level 4 (Certification provided by - AITA) in India.

The academy added that their coaches had played tennis at the competitive level for many years before deciding to give back to the game and nurture budding talent. Techniques, strategy, movement on court, fitness planners and travel for tournament scheduling will form part of a comprehensive regimen in the quest to provide a solid foundation for building a professional tennis career.

"Apart from technique and strategy, a key ingredient to focus on in any athlete is fitness and strength. Sat Sports gives special emphasis to fitness and our fitness coach comes with several years of professional experience in New Zealand.
