Priyanka Gandhi-Rahul Gandhi
Rae Bareli, Sept 13: With Congress' youth icon and General Secretary Rahul Gandhi facing a lot of flak in the recent times, his sister and star campaigner for the Congress Priyanka Gandhi has no intention to steal the thunder from her brother. In an interview with a television channel, Priyanka stated that she was not joining politics.

Her visit to Rae Bareli had sparked off rumours that she was ready for a more active role in politics. Refuting all rumours, Priyanka said, "I am not joining politics. There is nothing new about my interacting with workers in Rae Bareli and Amethi. I travel to Rae Bareli every now and then to look at organisational issues that have cropped up."

The Opposition has been particularly criticising Rahul and the recent article on The Economist has only added to Rahul's and Congress' misery. If that was not all, UPA supporter and Samajwadi party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav questioned Rahul's ability to lead the country. Samajwadi Party general secretary Mohan Singh also stated, "Rahul Gandhi lacks the ability to run the country. He has not been able to rise up to the challenge."

The matter that the Congress wants to pitch Rahul Gandhi against Gujarat CM Narendra Modi in the Gujarat elections has evoked a lot of criticism. While Modi has several development initiatives to show off, Rahul has none. His unresponsiveness on major issues has only sunken his credibility to new lows. In spite of this, Congress supporters still believe that he will make it to the PM's post one day and emerge from the shadows.
