Chennai, Sept 1: The Jayalalithaa-led government in Tamil Nadu seems determined to expose the corruption within the DMK and had carried out a massive witch hunt on those engaged in graft during DMK's regime. The latest name to surface in the corruption case is DMK MP Alagiri's son Durai Dayanidhi.

A lookout notice has been issued against Durai in the illegal granite mining case. According to the Tamil Nadu police, he is wanted for questioning in the case under the Mines and Minerals Act for encroaching government land and illegal mining. They have also conveyed the matter to the immigration department to make sure that he does not leave the country. He was the director in Olympus Granite till 2010.

The granite case has rocked the state with a total of 17 FIRs being filed against eight companies, including Olympus. Durai Dayanidhi's name is included among those who have been named in the FIR. A total of 60 people have been named in the FIR.

There were earlier allegations by a former collector of Madurai that there was a revenue loss of Rs 16,000 crore due to large scale violation in the granite industry. Massive raids were carried out against all 175 quarries in the district.

Alagiri's son had applied for anticipatory bail, with the court expected to hear the same on Sept 4.
