Journo among 5 arrested for Indian Mujahideen links

Bangalore, Aug 30: Key arrests have been made by the Bangalore police of those having links with banned terrorist outfit Indian Mujahideen (IM). Four people have been arrested from Hubli in Karnataka while one person was arrested in Bangalore. The person arrested in Bangalore has been identified as Muti-Ur-Rehman Siddiqui who is working as a journalist in a popular English daily in the city.

Media channels quote that the journalist was reportedly picked up by the Uttar Pradesh police and handed over to the Bangalore City crime branch. All those arrested is understood to have had a role in the 2010 Chinnaswamy Stadium blast. The twin blasts on Apr 18, 2010 on the eve of the Bangalore-Mumbai IPL semifinal match saw 15 injured.

The inquiry of those arrested is in progress and police have stated that the interrogation is still in the preliminary stage and no tangible information has been ascertained yet. The police are probing each persons links with the terrorist organisation.
