Striker Wayne Rooney was dropped from the starting XI after a poor show in the loss against Everton last week. Winger Nani was not given a spot on the bench after demanding higher wages from the 19-time champions.

However, England's most gifted player, Rooney was stretchered off after a nasty collision with Hugo Rodallega in injury-time. The 26-year old striker is set to sit-out for a month with a knee injury.

Fulham winger Damien Duff handed the Cottagers an early lead in the third minute only to be cancelled out by United's 24million recruit Van Persie seven minutes later. Japanese Kagawa scored his first goal to put the Red Devils in front after lashing onto Mark Schwarzer's poor clearance from Tom Cleverly's shot.

Right-back Rafael scored a close range header to hand United a two-goal advantage before a mix-up between goalkeeper David De Gea and centre-back Nemanja Vidic saw Fulham pull one back through the Serbian's own goal.

Chelsea winger Eden Hazard put up an outstanding performance against Newcastle United as they managed to keep top spot in the Premier League table with a 2-0 win over Newcastle United.

The Blues 32 million Belgian slotted home from the spot after Toons new signing Vurnon Anita tripped Fernando Torres in the box. The Spaniard gave a glimpse of his old times at Liverpool with a stunner from edge of the box. Yet again the creator was none other than Hazard, his clever back heel found Torres who smashed a shot from the outside of his boots to the top corner.

Chelsea have now won three in as many games to clinch nine points which sends them on top of the table.
