New Delhi, Aug 14: The Delhi High Court, which earlier postponed hearing on Gopal Kanda's bail plea in connection with Geetika Sharma suicide case, heard the petition on Tuesday, Aug 14. Kanda earlier on Monday claimed that Geetika was "frustrated" and "hypersensitive".

On Monday, Kanda's lawyer, while submitting the anticipatory bail plea in the court, said, "There is nothing in the FIR (first information report) or the suicide note that the applicant ever goaded, urged, prompted, incited or encouraged the deceased to commit suicide."

"The very reading of the suicide note makes it abundantly clear that the act of suicide on the part of deceased was not the handy work of sound mind but that of a confused and frustrated individual. The deceased was victim of her own inability to deal with normal wear and tear of life and ordinary petulance, tensions and ups and downs of one's existence," added the petition.

The statement came at a time when investigating officials were believed to have derived some shocking facts which could help them crack the case.

Delhi police, during their probe, found Geetika's contract papers with MDLR airlines owned by former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda. The clause in her appointment letter says that Geetika "has to report to the managing director (Kanda) on each and every day after work".

The investigation into the suicide case is giving away shocking revelations one after the other. Recently, another arrested MDLR employee Aruna Chaddha is reported to have stated that Geetika had underwent abortions, though her family members refused to accept the news. They, however, claimed that Chaddha tried to divert the investigation with such remarks against Geetika.

Geetika ended her life on Aug 5 accusing Kanda and Chaddha of harassing her. Police also found that Kanda allegedly had used some SIM cards for calling Geetika. The SIM cards allegedly were bought on the name of another MDLR employee Manpreet Singh who has also been arrested.

Kanda did not turn up for questioning at police headquarters and has been missing since Aug 8. Kanda, whose anticipatory bail plea was rejected by the sessions court, has applied for the same in the Delhi High Court again. He has managed to evade arrest till now.
