Narendra Modi to become messiah for ailing Vilasrao Deshmukh
The Gujarat CM is reported to have asked the state health department officials to arrange a liver for the ailing former Maharashtra CM.
While tweeting from his personal Twitter account, Modi tweeted, "Instructed Gujarat's health department to procure cadaver liver on top priority for Vilasrao Deshmukh, who is undergoing treatment."
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Rajeev Shukla also tweeted, "My friend vilas rao deshmukh is in hospital he immediately needs full liver for transplant only dead brain patient's liver can be taken (sic)."
"if anyone known to someone can get done his life can be saved today I went to c hm in chennai hospital pl try save his life," urged Mr Shukla while tweeting.
67-year-old Vilasrao, the Union Minister for Heavy Industries, has been suffering from liver cancer. A doctor, who has been attending him at Global Hospital in Chennai, stated that Vilasrao has hepatocellular carcinoma, most common type of liver cancer, which has led to multiple organ failure. The former minister was under treatment of liver failure over a year ago.
His son Riteish Deshmukh, a Bollywood actor, expressed his willingness to donate a part of his liver to his ailing father. However, the doctor said, "We have not ruled out a cadaver transplant either. We will put him on the wait-list. But that is only after he stabilises."
Following the actor's proposal, the doctors began examining whether tissues of the father and son match or not. According to transplant rules, the doctors can conduct liver transplantation on Vilasrao only after an authorised committee headed by the Tamil Nadu director of medical education gives permission.
