Controversy's favourite Swami Nithyananda in fresh storm
The victim is a 32-year-old NRI woman who registered a complaint against the man at the Colaba Police Station in Mumbai. The accused is an NRI doctor and according to the woman, he brainwashed her and raped her over a couple of 4 years.
The lady is said to have told the police, "He (the accused) would tell me that he is Shiva and I am Parvati. He would lace my drinks with drugs and rape me." The duo were frequent visitors to Nithyananda's ashram in Los Angeles in 2008, thereby dragging the already controversial Swami into fresh controversy.
A spokesperson for the self-styled godman, Dale Bhagwagar has been quoted as saying, "Swami Nithyananda's name seems to have become synonymous with controversy. Countless people visit Nithyananda's ashrams worldwide all the time. The Swami cannot be held responsible or linked to whatever all those people choose to do in their private lives."
