Anna upset with Modi praiser Ramdev, unlikely to join protest

Ramdev and Anna Hazare
New Delhi, Aug 8: The yoga guru Baba Ramdev is all set to resume his protest over black money issue at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi from Thursday, Aug 9. But he may not get support from Anna Hazare who reportedly was upset with the yoga guru over praising Narendra Modi. [UPDATE: Ramdev begins protest without Anna to bring back black money]

According to sources, Anna is yet to take a decision on joining Ramdev at Ramlila Maidan. Ramdev had earlier praised the Gujarat Chief Minister saying, "Everybody is asking me about corruption in Gujarat, but I couldn't find anything of this sort. Modi is not doing anything wrong."

The yoga guru's view on Modi shocked Team Anna as he (Ramdev) earlier had announced his support for the team in their fight against corruption. However, Ramdev's statement on Modi clearly showed his ambiguity as the Gujarat CM is accused in many controversial cases.

Suggesting uneasiness in Team Anna over association with the yoga guru in their anti-corruption agitation, its member Sanjay Singh described Modi as a "murderer of humanity" and said Ramdev has to explain why he shared the dais with the BJP leader.

"We were never in agreement with Modi. We are not in agreement with Modi now. Narendra Modi is a murderer of humanity. Ramdev will have to clarify on this issue," Singh, who was conducting the proceedings from the dais along with another activist Kumar Vishwas at Hazare's fast venue in Delhi, told reporters when asked about Ramdev sharing the stage with Modi.

Despite all such reports, the yoga guru seems to be hopeful about Anna's presence at Ramlila on Thursday as he claimed that Hazare has publicly said that he will come. Now, it would be interesting to see if Anna will share the dais with Ramdev or decide to maintain distance with the yoga guru.
