Vilasrao Deshmukh's health condition worsens,on life support

Chennai, Aug 7: Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and Union Minister for Heavy Industries Vilasrao Deshmukh has been admitted to a hospital in Chennai. According to sources, 67-year-old Deshmukh has been suffering from kidney and liver failure. Citing his deteriorating health condition, he was brought in a special flight to Chennai from Mumbai on Monday.

He was immediately admitted to the ICU at Global Hospital in Chennai. A doctor from Mumbai was quoted as saying, "At Breach Candy, he was on dialysis for three days. There was no improvement in his condition and ultimately he was put on life support system."

"Our information is that Deshmukh had gone abroad for check-up on two to three occasions and there had been a marked improvement in his condition," added the doctor.

Meanwhile, a doctor, who is attending Deshmukhji at the Chennai hospital, said, "Deshmukh is on life support. His condition is critical as he is suffering from a serious liver ailment and multiple organ failure."
