Saina Nehwal receives rousing reception at New Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 7: India's Saina Nehwal received a rousing welcome on Tuesday as she returned home after a memorable Olympic campaign winning a bronze medal for the country in Badminton.

Saina arrived at Delhi in the wee hours of Tuesday, showed no signs of jet lag as she smiled and greeted the fans, who had come all the way to Indira Gandhi International Airport to catch a glimpse of the star. She took a connecting flight from Delhi to her home in Hyderabad.

Saina bagged a bronze medal at London Olympics 2012 under fortuitous circumstances since her opponent World No 2 Wang Xin twisted her knee as she was forced to withdraw from the event.

Saina became the second Indian woman to win an Olympic medal for India. It was also the 10th individual medal since 1952 which was won by KD Jadhav (wrestler) and the third medal in this edition of Olympics after Gagan Narang's bronze and Vijay Kumar's silver.

It is learnt that Ashwini Ponappa, Jwala Gutta and P Kashyap also returned on Tuesday with Saina Nehwal.
