New Delhi, Aug 7: In the latest development in the suicide case of Geetika Sharma, pictures released by her family members showing they were close to Gopal Goyal Kanda brings new twist in the case on Tuesday, Aug 7.

Geetika's family members released some photographs capturing Geetika and the former Haryana minister of state, urban local bodies, Gopal Kanda. Her family has so far claimed that Geetika was not just an employee for Kanda but also shared personal relationship with him.

However, Kanda denied all such allegations and asserted that he did not have any connection with Geetika who was a former employee in the MDLR airlines owned by Kanda.

The photographs also proved that Kanda and Geetika had visited several places such as Shirdi, Mumbai together. Her family members also informed that a phone call from Kanda allegedly made Geetika restless on the fateful morning and she committed suicide.

Kanda, however, said that he did not speak to Geetika in the recent past and offered to give his mobile for verification. The former minister also informed that the money, which he had given to Geetika for her education, was given as a loan.

Geetika's family members said that Geetika was close to Kanda and thus he gave more than Rs 7 lakh to her for pursuing an MBA course. Kanda allegedly had gifted a BMW to Geetika but she later returned that back after using the car for some days.

Kanda earlier was quoted as saying, "We gave her Rs 7.5 lakh for her studies and even made her chairman of the trust that runs my international school in Sirsa. I did not have any contact with her after that."

The latest development may help the investigating officials to determine the reason behind Geetika's death. Though she in her suicide note accused Kanda and Aruna Chadha, MDLR manager, for breaking her trust, ruining her and hurting her family.

Police on Monday seized Geetika's laptop and mobile phones in connection with the investigation in the suicide case. According to sources, police too found some photographs of Geetika and Kanda at her flat.

The 23-year-old former air hostess, who quit Kanda's company, took the extreme step at her North Delhi's Ashok Vihar, apparently depressed over continual mental harassment allegedly by the minister.

Earlier Geetika's brother said, "When the airline's operation was suspended, Gopal Kanda offered her another job. She refused that offer and joined Emirates in Dubai. He then wrote a letter to Emirates stating that she had a bad character, which led to her termination."

Kanda landed in legal trouble when police registered a case of abetment of suicide against him. Following the allegations and charges against him, he resigned from the government.

MDLR Airlines was based in Gurgaon, Haryana. It operated scheduled domestic services. It suspended its operations in 2009.
