Air Hostess suicide: Ex-Haryana minister to be arrested?
Party state secretary Inderjit Singh at Rohtak on Monday, Aug 6 stated, "His resignation from the ministry is inadequate and mere eyewash. In view of the serious charges, he must be arrested by the Delhi police immediately."
The CPM leaders' statement followed the resignation of Kanda who claimed, "I have tendered my resignation and requested Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda to accept it. I have resigned to ensure an impartial probe. I have full faith in the law of the land. I am confident that I will come out clean after investigations are held."
46-year-old Kanda landed in trouble as Delhi Police registered a case of abatement to suicide against him after a former woman employee of his now defunct airline MDLR allegedly took her life accusing harassment by him.
Police on Monday seized Geetika's laptop and mobile phones in connection with the investigation in the suicide case. The 23-year-old former air hostess, who quit Kanda's company recently, took the extreme step at her Ashok Vihar residence in north-west Delhi residence, apparently depressed over continual mental harassment allegedly by the minister.
Kanda was the owner of MDLR Airlines based in Gurgaon, Haryana. It operated scheduled domestic services. It suspended its operations in 2009.
