Saina's China task tough, but not impossible

Saina Nehwal
London, Aug 3: Another big day awaits Indian badminton at the London Olympics 2012 on Friday. Saina Nehwal will be playing her women's singles semi-final match against Wang Yihan of China at the Wembley Arena from 1.30 PM IST.

On Thursday, Saina created history by becoming the first Indian to reach the semi-finals of a badminton event at the Olympics.

The 22-year-old girl from Hyderabad was on top of her game to beat Tine Baun of Denmark in the quarter-finals.

But today is her biggest test in London Olympics. She will be facing the world number one Yihan. In their five previous meetings, the 24-year-old Chinese girl had outclassed the Indian in all, making it 5-0.

It is the class between world's top player and the number five from India. History is against Saina but it could all change today. Saina is capable of that too.

The way she excelled under pressure in the last eight stage against Baun is a good sign. She came back from three game points down to win five successive points and take the contest.

It will be a tough task but not an impossible one. Let us wait and watch.
