Indian Mujahideen
Pune, Aug 3: Initial police investigation ruled out any terror connection with the serial blasts in Pune on Wednesday, Aug 1. However, just a day after, police took a U-turn saying that terror group Indian Mujahideen has been suspected in connection with the blasts.

The contradictory statements of the police and other intelligence officials shocked all. However, Home Secretary RK Singh earlier had accepted that it was a planned attack.

"The fact that it (blasts) took place within 45 minutes in a radius of less than a kilometre shows there was planning," said Mr Singh on Thursday.

Following the probe into the blasts, investigation and police officials have asked the IAC protesters to suspend their agitation and leave the venue in lieu of the probe into the area of the blast.

The protest site is in close proximity of the blast site. The IAC supporters have obliged with the police request and suspended their agitation.

The local tailor, Dayanand Patil who was injured in the blast revealed to investigators during questioning that he had picked up the bag from near the IAC venue. He had picked up another bag that was heavier and during the course of checking its contents, the bomb exploded.

The investigative officials still maintains that the tailor remains a suspect. Latest reports say that Patil's wife has also been picked up by the ATS for questioning.
