Bangalore, Aug 1: One of the two Karnataka MLAs implicated in the cash-for-bail scam has admitted to bribing CBI judges in order to get bail for mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy.

TH Suresh Babu who represents Kampli constituency told the Anti-Corruption Bureau that he and Janardhan Reddy's brothers, Somasekhara and Dasaratharami, offered a bribe of Rs 20 crore to the judges.

The MLA was arrested and produced in court yesterday. Suresh Babu related how he had met Janardhan Reddy in prison and promised the latter an early release.

For this, three judges namely K Lakshmi Narasimha Rao, D Prabhakar Rao and T Pattabhirama Rama Rao were bribed.

"Discussions were held with Nacharam history sheeter P Yadagiri Rao at Dasapalla Hotel. Yadagiri Rao said that if they were ready to give Rs 5 crore to the then CBI court judge T Pattabhirama Rao, Rs 5 crore to retired TV Chalapathi Rao, Rs 5 crore to Yadagiri Rao and Rs 5 crore towards court expenses, then he would manage judges to give bail to Janardhan Reddy," Suresh Babu confessed.

A realtor Ravi Surya Prakash Babu was part of the conspiracy. The MLA said that Somasekhara Reddy was willing to play ball but was unsure about Pattabhirama Rao granting bail to Janardhan Reddy.

To assure Somasekhara, even the judge's son T Ravichandra was included in the conspiracy. When Pattabhirama Rao ordered the mining baron's release, Rs 9 crore was paid to the former.

The history sheeter subsequently collected the money and went with Suresh Babu to deposit the same in Pattabhirama Rao's accounts.

Police have so far picked up nine of the accused in the scam.
