Mumbai, Aug 1: Twelve persons including a corporator of Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS) led by Raj Thackeray have been arrested in connection with the attack at Bollywood director Rohan Sippy's film set in Mumbai.

Mumbai police on Wednesday, Aug 1 said, "They (arrested people) were charged for dacoity, unlawful assembly, rioting and damaging property."

Meanwhile, sources informed that a delegation representing the film fraternity will meet Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan soon. They were angry over the repeated attacks and humiliations of the industry people at the hands of different political parties.

Earlier on Sunday, MNS activists attacked Rohan Sippy's film set and vandalised Bollywood actor John Abraham's vanity van and Ayushman Khurana's BMW.

The incident occurred at Garden Foods and Wafers factory in suburban Borivli on Sunday, Jul 29 following a heated argument between a watchman of the factory and Ravindra More, a driver of MNS MLA Pravin Darekar.

The watchman had reportedly stopped More from entering a private road which runs through the factory where Rohan Sippy's crew were present for a movie shoot picturising on Khurana.

The lane passing through the compound is frequently used as a shortcut. But the watchman's decision to bar More from using it led to an altercation between the duo, stated police officials.

"Furious More left the scene but soon returned with around 10 to 15 MNS activists. The group saw the movie set in the premises and destroyed it. It was Sippy's set. The group also damaged many vehicles parked there. Two persons have sustained injuries in the incident and are currently undergoing treatment at Bhagwati Hospital," added the cops while enlightening the media personnel about the real reason behind the ruckus.

The mob have allegedly vandalised a total of twenty vehicles. Police took control of the region and started patrolling soon after the violence which shook all at the film set.

Meanwhile, additional commissioner of police (North region), Sunil Paraskar has been quoted as saying, "We have formed seven teams to trace the people involved in the Sunday afternoon incident. Already, we have detained several people for questioning in the case."

Police officials also informed that a complaint of rioting and causing damage to property is being registered at Kasturba Marg police station and the extent of the damage is being evaluated.
