New Delhi, Jul 30: In a piece of news that could give India's intelligence officials sleepless nights, a Jamia Nagar resident named Zubair Khan who was detained by Crime Branch officials has been collecting information about defence establishments, especially Air India raising fears of another Kandahar-like hijack attempt.

Two Pakistan High Commission officials were understood to be guiding the Pak spy, Zubair who has been systematically handing over crucial information to Pak counterparts on Air India pilots, journalists who frequently report and travel to Pakistan; families travelling to the neighbouring country and updated info on government officials having bilateral roles.

The info on the particular flight that Zubair was gathering details is meant to start operations to Pak soon. During the time of arrest, Zubair Khan had in his possession secret documents and photographs on the Indian army as well as maps on certain cantonment areas and details on various army battalions.

The arrest is seen as crucial by the Delhi police and could reveal the role of Pakistan in perpetrating terror in Indian soil. The matter gains further significance since his arrest comes ahead of the Independence Day celebrations.
